Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters presents the movie 'WORKSHOP 666'; Open Up Road Lands WW Legal Rights For February Theatrical Release

EXCLUSIVE: Belief A Tough Day's Night of the Living Dead, with laughter amid the frights and splashes, and you've also mastered STUDIO 666. Dave Grohl and his bandmates Foo Fighters star in a movie they filmed in secret, about what happens when the fabulous rock band rents an Encino estate steeped in rock and roll's shocking history, to record their 10th CD. The problem is that leader Grohl is artistically obstructed, and when the evil forces of your house enter his consciousness, the imaginative juices begin to stir, but so does the blood. Can Foo Fighters complete the CD, with the band still touring mindfully?

Open Up Roadway Films won civil liberties around the world, and the rep established a wide theatrical release in over 2,000 theaters on February 25. Besides Grohl and his bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Rub Smear, Chris Shiflett & Rami Jaffee who play themselves, the cast includes Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Strength, Jenna Ortega, as well as Jeff Garlin. The pic is guided by BJ McDonnell and the worldwide release date will be set soon by Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg and Foo Fighters.

Based on a story by Grohl, with a screenplay by Jeff Buhler and Rebecca Hughes, the film is guided by BJ McDonnell. He directed Hatchet III as well as Killer: The Repentless Killogy and worked as a camera operator on films such as James Wan's Malignant as well as Top Gun: Radical. The film mixes the price of fear with the playfulness as well as the misdeeds noticeable in the group's music videos. Given its superstar profile, the Foo Fighters group has managed to mostly keep the film's role a rather limited secret.

"After decades of ridiculous videos and numerous music documentaries under our cumulative belts, it was finally time to take it to the next level... A full-size chill comedy," Grohl said. “Like the majority of Foo Points, WORKSHOP 666 started with a much-researched concept that evolved into something bigger than we ever imagined possible. Filmed at the same house where we recorded our latest album Medication at Twelve o'clock at night--told you this place was haunted!-we set out to recapture the classic magic of all our favorite rock and roll movies, but with a twist: fun, kick-ass gore. now, with the help of Tom Ortenberg and also the team at Open Road Films, we can finally let this feline out of the bag after keeping it our best hidden for two years. Get ready to laugh, howl and headbang in your popcorn. WORKSHOP 666 will definitely f*ck you up."

Open Roadway's Ortenberg said, "We couldn't be more thrilled to coordinate with Foo Fighters for a film that is sure to have audiences screaming and laughing. The Foos bring their fun chemistry and also the musical skills that most between us love on the big screen in this hysterical horror flick."

McDonnell called the film "the perfect mix of all the points that I love. Rock, horror and funny all come together in a very uplifting film. I'm so excited to have coordinated with the Foo Fighters to produce a group film It's been years since we've seen something like The Beatles Help!, The Monkees' Head, or KISS Fulfills the Phantom of the Park.Take this enjoyable traditional 60s/70s band flick, mix it up with horror thus workshop 666 was born!I am so thrilled that the film and music target markets are moving forward with each other and enjoying our film.

The film is produced by John Ramsay & James A. Rota of Roswell Films and Therapy Studios. Executive producers are John Silva, Kristen Welsh, John Cutcliffe, Gaby Skolnek, Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, James Masciello, Matthew Sidari, Mitchell Zhang and Open Road's Ortenberg.

"Over the past few years, we've been fortunate enough to team up with Foo Fighters on a variety of great assignments," producers Ramsay & said. Rota. "Whether it's documentary films, TV series or music videos, they always bring their wonderful abilities and famous sense of humor. STUDIO 666 takes that to a whole new level and we couldn't be many happiest with this film. We can't wait to share it with the world." The makers have dealt with Grohl on the exceptional HBO docuseries Sonic Freeways.

The deal was brokered by Ortenberg and Matthew Sidari for Open Roadway Films as well as WME Independent on behalf of the filmmakers. Ortenberg started Open Road, left, then returned when Raven Funding Management became his backer. The distributor has released Best Image winner Limelight and Jake Gyllenhaal with Nightcrawler, and more recently Liam Neeson action films Truthful Thief as well as The Marksman and also the Gerard Butler-Frank Grillo action film CopShop.
